WisDOT subassemblies and assemblies
Last updated: 2021-11-05
Overview
The WisDOT Civil 3D standards require custom subassemblies and assemblies. WisDOT custom subassembly files are copied to the local machine's Program Data folder and WisDOT custom assemblies are stored in *.dwg files that are included in the WisDOT Civil 3D resource files. Custom tool palettes are also included for easy access to the subassemblies and assemblies.
Warning: Altering WisDOT component files and directories may result in lost functionality. Contact CAE Support for more information.
User component files can be created and stored in C:\WisDOT\Stnd\users\Myc3d20xx\
New custom subassembly and assembly requests can be directed to the WisDOT Civil 3D Futures Trello board for review and consideration.
Resource files
Subassembly files
The WisDOT custom subassembly files are copied to the Program Data folder during installation of the resource files. The files are located in: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2020\enu\Imported Tools. Each WisDOT custom subassembly's files are stored in individual subfolders in the Imported Tools directory.
Assembly files
The WisDOT custom assembly DWG files are located in: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D2020\Components\Assemblies Each drawing file contains one assembly.
Subassembly and assembly tool palettes
The tool palette files for the WisDOT custom subassemblies and assemblies are located in: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D2020\Appdata\ToolPalette\Design\Wis-A-Sub-Assemblies. The subassemblies and assemblies are divided onto multiple palettes grouped by type.

LnPulvRelBoth | Lane | Used to define pulverize and relay sections allowing for shoulder widening on both sides. | ROADWAY |
ShldRehab | Shoulder | Used for special shoulder widening when designing a rehabilitation section. | ROADWAY |
Daylight | Closes the sections from the outside edge of the roadway (subgrade shoulder point) to cut or fill slope intersect point. Parameters to complete a ditch or fill section include insuring that a safe recoverable distance and slope are provided, in addition to providing parameters for both a v-ditch or a flat bottom ditch. |
DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
|
CutFillProfileControlled | Daylight | Closes the sections from the outside edge of the roadway to cut or fill slope intersect point. Parameters to complete a cut or fill section include insuring that a safe recoverable distance and slope is provided. | DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
MedianDaylight | Daylight | Addresses various depressed median scenarios between the attachment point and a marked point or an attachment point and a point defined by width plus elevation parameters. | DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
MedianDitchorBerm | Slope | Creates a cross-sectional representation of a depressed median between the attachment point and a marked point or an attachment point and a point defined by width plus elevation parameters. | DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
Overburden | Daylight | This subassembly models benching and slope requirements for sections in rock cut. Used in area between a rock surface and the existing ground, which is typically called the Earth Overburden. | DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
IntEmb | Daylight | This subassembly models an intercepting embankment and optional ditch behind the embankment per Wisconsin DOT standard detail drawing 8E5-2. | DAYLIGHTS & SLOPES |
MultiUseWidthAndSlopeLinks | General | Constructs links to develop default top setup surfaces of lane and paved areas along with the ability to add simple daylight slopes. |
GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
LinkWidthAndVerticalDeflection | General | General purpose utility to extend a link at a width for a vertical deflection distance. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
LinkVerticalSlopeConditional | General | General purpose utility to extend a link for a vertical depth whenever two input slopes are different. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
LinkProfileControlled | General | General purpose utility to add a surface link by specifying a profile elevation to define the slope and/or the width. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
ProfileToParameterRef | Parameter | Used to target a profile and has no points or links. The elevation parameter of the subassembly can then be used as a parameter reference in another subassembly to define a slope or a width. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
MultiProfToParameterRef | Parameter | Used to target multiple profiles and has no points or links. The elevation parameter of the subassembly can then be used as a parameter reference in another subassembly to define a slope or a width. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
ExtMultiOpt | General | Inserts a single link, where the attachment point can be specified at the endpoint of another link in the assembly OR the endpoint of a target surface. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
ExtSurfMultiInt | Daylight | Used when a cut or fill slope might have more than one intersection with a target surface. | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
RurDrive | Driveway | Creates a cross-sectional representation of a rural driveway per Wisconsin DOT standards (FDM Procedure 11-15-1). | GENERAL SUBASSEMBLIES |
MarshExc | Excavation | Inserts marsh excavation links from a defined target surface (MARSH) up to a separate target surface (EXIST) based on WisDOT standards. | SUBSURFACE |
PartialMarsh | Excavation | Inserts marsh excavation links for partial marsh excavation from a defined target surface (MARSH) up to a separate target surface (EXIST) based on WisDOT standards. | SUBSURFACE |
