Description
Inserts marsh excavation links from a defined target surface (MARSH) up to a separate target surface (EXIST) based on WisDOT standards.
Behavior
Inserts links that represent the area of marsh excavation. Two different scenarios may be encountered.
If the attachment point is above Target Surface1, subassembly will project from the attachment point down to the intersection with Target Surface1 at a slope defined by the Projection Slope from Attachment Point to Target Surface1 input parameter. From this point, the subassembly will project down to the intersection of Target Surface2 at a slope defined by the Projection Slope from Target Surface1 to Target Surface2 input parameter. From this second projection point, a Marsh Excavation link is inserted, projecting back up to Target Surface1 at the slope defined by the user.
If the attachment point is below Target Surface1, subassembly will project from the attachment point down to the intersection with Target Surface 2 at a slope defined by the Projection Slope from Target Surface1 to Target Surface2 input parameter. From this projection point, a Marsh Excavation link is inserted, projecting back up to Target Surface1 at the slope defined by the user.
Three additional links are inserted.(1) starts at a 0 offset from the baseline on Target Surface 1 and extends vertically to the intersection with Target Surface 2.(2) a second set of links start at a 0 offset from the baseline on Target Surface 2 and follows Target Surface 2 until the insertion point of the marsh excavation link that projects back up to Target Surface1 at the slope defined by the user. (3) a third set of links starts at the top of link (1) and connects to the upper endpoint of the MarshExcavation link. All links are shown in the diagram below.
Attachment & layout mode operation
The attachment is at inside edge of the link inserted. Subassembly should be inserted at the Subgrade Shoulder Point for calculations to be performed properly.
In layout mode, this subassembly display links projecting from a point 5 feet below the baseline profile using the slopes defined.
Input parameters
Info: All dimensions are in feet unless otherwise noted. All slopes are in run-over-rise form (for example, 4:1) unless indicated as a percent slope with a "%" sign.
Parameter | Description | Type | Default |
---|---|---|---|
Side | Specifies which side to place the subassembly. | Left/Right | Right |
Projection Slope from Attachment Point to Target Surface1 | Specifies the slope of a line projected down from the attachment point to the intersection with Target Surface1 defining Test Point A. No links are inserted. If attachment point elevation is below surface defined for Target Surface 1, this step is skipped. | Slope, Positive | 2:1 |
Projection Slope from Target Surface1 to Target Surface2 | Specifies the slope of a line projected down from Test Point A to the intersection with Target Surface2 defining Test Point B. No links are inserted. | Slope, Positive | 0:1 |
Slope of Marsh Excavation | Specifies the slope of the link inserted from Test Point B to the intersection with Target Surface1. | Slope | 0.5:1 |
Target parameters
This section lists the parameters in this subassembly that can be mapped to one or more target objects, such as a surface, alignment, or profile object in a drawing.
Parameter | Description | Status |
---|---|---|
Target Surface1 | Name of the Surface representing the existing terrain. The following object types can be used as targets for specifying the surface: surfaces. | Required |
Target Surface2 | Name of the Surface representing the Marsh layer. The following object types can be used as targets for specifying the surface: surfaces. | Required |
Output parameters
