RurDrive

Description
The RuralDriveway subassembly creates a cross-sectional representation of a rural driveway per Wisconsin DOT standards (FDM Procedure 11-15-1). The driveway links are superimposed over the normal cut / fill links at locations that fall within the Driveway Limits defined. An offset target defining the driveway limits is used to determine whether the subassembly links are inserted at locations along the corridor. Offset targets can also be used to define the Driveway Width and/or the Daylight Width.
Behavior
This subassembly inserts links that model a rural driveway at locations where the Driveway Limits object is found. Before inserting any links, the subassembly will first test to see if the object used to define the Driveway Limits is found within distance determined by the Driveway Limits value from the attachment point at the insertion station. Attachment point is assumed to be at the outside edge of the unpaved portion of the shoulder on finished grade. If within locations defined by Driveway Limits, the driveway link is inserted outward from the attachment point using Driveway Slope and Driveway Width parameters. Daylight link is inserted from the end of the driveway link using either a slope parameter or width parameter. The Width or Slope Used to Define Daylight Slope parameter is used to determine whether slope or width values are used.
- When Slope parameter is used, Daylight link extends from the end of the driveway link at the slope defined until it intersects with the Daylight Surface.
-
When Width parameter is used, the Daylight Link will extend from the end of the driveway link to a distance defined by the daylight link width parameter and the intersection with the Daylight Surface.
If a Daylight Link Offset target is set, this offset is used to define the daylight link endpoint location, overriding both the Daylight Link Slope and Daylight Link Width parameters.
Attachment & layout mode operation
The attachment point is at the outside edge of the unpaved portion of the shoulder on finished grade. Can be inserted on either the right or left side.
In layout mode the subassembly displays the driveway link with width and slope defined, and the daylight link extended outward for a horizontal distance defined by Daylight Link width parameter. The daylight link is terminated with an arrowhead pointing outwards.
Input parameters
Info: All dimensions are in feet unless otherwise noted. All slopes are in run-over-rise form (for example, 4:1) unless indicated as a percent slope with a "%" sign.
Parameter | Description | Type | Default |
---|---|---|---|
Side | Specifies which side to place the subassembly. | Left / Right | Right |
Driveway Limits | Test to see if the target object used to define the Driveway Limits is found within this offset of the attachment point at the insertion station. | Numeric, positive | 50 |
Driveway Width | The width of the driveway that extends from the edge of the gravel shoulder to the beginning of the catch slope link. | Numeric, positive | 5.0 |
Driveway Slope | The slope of the of the driveway link. Negative slopes go downward in the direction inserted. | Slope | -10% |

Width or Slope Used to Define Daylight Slope | Parameter used to determine whether a slope or a distance is used to define the daylight link. |

Slope |
Daylight Link Slope | The slope of the of the daylight link. Negative slopes go downward in the direction inserted. This parameter is only used if parameter Width or Slope Used to Define Daylight Slope is set to Slope. | Slope | 10% |
Daylight Link Width | The width of the daylight link that extends from the end of the driveway link to the intersection with the Target Surface. This parameter is only used if parameter Width or Slope Used to Define Daylight Slope is set to Width. | Numeric, positive | 10 |

Target parameters
This section lists the parameters in this subassembly that can be mapped to one or more target objects, such as a surface, alignment, or profile object in a drawing.
Parameter | Description | Status |
---|---|---|
Daylight Surface | Name of the daylighting surface. The following object types can be used as targets for specifying this surface: surfaces. | Required |
Driveway Limits | Object used to define where rural driveway is found. The following objects can be used as targets for specifying this location: alignments, polylines, feature lines, or survey figures. | Required |
Driveway Link Offset | May be used to override the fixed width set for the driveway link to tie the end-of-link to an offset object. The following objects can be used as targets for specifying this offset: alignments, polylines, feature lines, or survey figures. | Optional |
Daylight Link Offset | May be used to override the width or slope value set which defines the daylight link to tie the end-of-link to an offset object. The following objects can be used as targets for specifying this offset: alignments, polylines, feature lines, or survey figures. | Optional |
