Known issue - Excel Civil 3D quantities "Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action."

Issue

There is a known issue where Civil 3D struggles to open existing quantities drawings when using the paste link method to create quantities plan sheets in Civil 3D. Civil 3D and Excel end up in an endless cycle of 'Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action" warning message and the quantities file will not open.

Solution

The solution is to disable the Bluebeam Add-Ins in Excel.

1. Close Civil 3D
2. Open Excel

3. File > Options

   
4. Scroll down to and select Add-ins

5. 1. Change the drop down to COM Add-Ins

   2. Click GO

      

6. In COM Add-ins, Deselect the Bluebeam Add-ins

   1. OK

      
7. Close Excel
8. Open Civil 3D
9. Open the quantities drawing
