SidewalkWithBase – Version 26.0
Last updated: 2025-12-08
Description
This subassembly inserts links for a sidewalk with options for inside and outside terrace and attachments options.
Behavior
The inside terrace, sidewalk, and outside terrace links are inserted outward from the attachment point at the user defined widths and slopes. The terraces can be omitted by specifying a zero-width. The sidewalk may not have a zero width and will default to a width of 5ft if the Sidewalk With parameter is set to zero. The sidewalk width can not defined as a zero width when using a target to define the sidewalk width.
Starting at the outer point of the inside terrace, a finished sidewalk surface and subsequent base course surfaces are inserted using user defined width, depth and slope. Vertical links close the shape at either end of the sidewalk.
Optionally, each element's width can be attained by using an offset target.
Each inside terrace cross slope link, sidewalk cross slope link, and the outside terrace cross slope link can use a profile target to define the elevation of the out point of the link, assign a Superelevation parameter to define the cross slope, or can target a profile to use the elevation invert to define the slope.
The Subgrade may be extended beyond the width of the sidewalk pavement on both the inside and or the outside using the Sidewalk Subgrade Inside Width or Sidewalk Subgrade Outside Width Input parameters.
The SidewalkWithBase assembly provides the option to assign from other subassembly output or manually input the Width of Datum Subgrade from connected inside subassembly as a coded ETW_Datum_CG point. To turn off this point option set this parameter to zero. The Place Datum Connect on Sidewalk Subgrade provides a user the option to force the vertical location of this point. This parameter is a yes or no option. Setting this to No keeps the point placed on the top link. The Yes option will create a point where the sidewalk subgrade extended inwards meets the subgrade datum width and create a connecting link from this point to the sidewalk subgrade link when possible. If no subgrade is defined it will place the point on the top link. If the inside terrace slope is such that the sidewalk subgrade intersects the terrace link before reaching the subgrade datum width then no subgrade link is created and a point is created at the daylight point and the top link point at the subgrade datum width is created.
Attachment & layout mode operation
The attachment point is at the inside edge of the inside terrace. If the inside terrace width is set to zero the attachment point becomes the inside edge of the sidewalk. The SidewalkWithBase subassembly is typically attached to a top back-of-curb, curb terrace, or edge of pavement.
In layout mode, this subassembly displays the terraces and sidewalk based on the input parameter values given. Point P1 is not coded (set as "no code") because it will be coincidental to an attached subassembly with a coded point. All points, links and shapes have a user input parameter and may be coded by the user.
Input parameters
Info: All dimensions are in feet unless otherwise noted. All slopes are indicated as a percent slope with a "%" sign.
