Barriers - Version 26.0
Last updated: 2025-12-11
Description
This subassembly is used to create a single slope concrete barrier based on the WisDOT Standard Detail Drawings (SDD) 14B32, 14B34 and 14B41. It automatically adjusts barrier dimensions based on standard barrier types. The subassembly includes a concrete barrier footing. There is also a generic option to customize any of the barrier and footing dimensions.
The Barriers subassembly does not have parameters for base and subbase layers. This subassembly can be partnered with the LnExtendBase subassembly by attaching it to the inside or outside top pavement point. The LnExtendBase has options to extend the base and subbase layers under the barrier.
Behavior
Barrier and barrier footing shapes are derived from WisDOT standard detail drawings as shown in the WisDOT Facilities Development Manual.
When connecting a subassembly to the Barrier subassembly, set the side parameter of the attaching subassembly to the side you are connecting to. For example when attaching LnExtendBase to the left side, set the LnExtendBase side parameter to the left side.
Inside is the attached side of the footing and Outside is the connecting side of the footing.
Barrier Types
-
Concrete Barrier Single Slope – See SDD 14B32 (sheets a-h)
-
Concrete Barrier Single Slope Widen – See SDD 14B32 (sheet c)
-
Concrete Barrier Type A – See SDD 14B32 (sheet f)
Type A has an upper and lower concrete barrier. The barrier footing depths as shown in SDD 14B32 (sheet g) can be adjusted by using separate corridor regions or by incorporating the Autodesk ConditionalHorizontalTarget subassembly.
-
Concrete Barrier Type B – See SDD 14B34
-
Concrete Barrier Type C – See SDD 14B41
-
Concrete Barrier Generic – Custom single slope barrier
Variable generic parameters are available for this barrier type. The barrier height may be set anywhere between 32 and 56 inches.

Attachment & layout mode operation
The attachment point for Concrete Barrier Type A is at the bottom of the upper barrier. The attachment point for all the other barrier types is at the top of the barrier footing.
In layout mode, this subassembly draws the barrier shape as specified by the Input parameters.
Input parameters
Info: All dimensions are in feet unless otherwise noted. All slopes are in run-over-rise form (for example 4:1) unless indicated as a percent slope with a "%" sign.

Target parameters
| Parameter | Description | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Back connect point - CBSS Type A & C, CB Generic | This target only applies to the Concrete Barrier Type C and Generic barrier. Provides a variable height connection point along the back side of the barrier. Distance is measured from the top of the barrier. The following object types can be used as targets for specifying this elevation: profiles, 3D polylines, feature lines, or survey figures. | Optional |
| Back connect point from profile - CBSS Type A & C, CB Generic | This target only applies to the Concrete Barrier Type C and Generic barrier. Provides a variable height connection point along the back side of the barrier. Distance is measured from the top of the barrier. The profile should be designed so the profile elevations define the distance from the top of the barrier. | Optional |
| Barrier height from profile - All | May be used to override the height of the barrier. This pertains to the upper barrier for CBSS Type A. The profile should be designed so the profile elevations define the height of the barrier above the footing. | Optional |
| Upper transition from profile - CBSS Type A | This target only applies to the Concrete Barrier Type A barrier. Adjusts the vertical elevation of the barrier within the height range of the lower barrier. The profile should be designed so the profile elevations define the distance below the top barrier section. Values may range from 0 to -3 feet. | Optional |
| Barrier outside width - CBSS Widen | This target only applies to the Concrete Barrier Single Slope Widen. Width is from the inside of the barrier footing to the outside of the barrier wall. The following object types can be used as targets for specifying the width: alignments, polylines, feature lines, or survey features. | Optional |
