Prepend/Append Text

Overview
This tool is used to quickly prepend or append text to existing annotation entities. Supported annotation entities include, Multiline Text, Single Line Text, Dimensions, Multileaders, and Civil 3D Labels.
Usage
WisDOT Sheets tab > Annotation panel slideout > Prepend/Append Text
The tool can also be accessed from the command line: DOTPREPENDAPPENDTEXT.
The tool is is hosted on a palette so it can remain open while interacting with the drawing.
- Enter the text to prepend/append in the text box. The text box support multiple lines of text and/or tabs, if that is desired. When prepending, it is typical to include a space after the text. When appending, it is typical to include a space before the text.
- Choose the Prepend or Append option.
- When working with Civil 3D Labels that are contained in a Label Group, choose how the Labels should be handled.
- Individual: Only the selected Label in the Label Group will be modified.
- All: All Labels in the Label Group will be modified.
- Click the edit text button to select text to modify. Using this button supports single entity selection. As you click on entities, they are immediately modified.
- The command includes an option to undo the last edited entity.
- For Civil 3D Labels that contain more than one text component, a prompt will display asking which component should be modified.
- Civil 3D Labels that are edited will show an overridden text component glyph. These glyphs do not plot and are displayed for informational purposes. The glyphs can be hidden using the Override glyph options available on the Annotate tab > Label Text panel.
- If multi-entity selection is desired, select the entities first, then click the edit text button. This method of selection can only be used for AutoCAD entities. Civil 3D Labels must be selected individually as described above.
