DWG - Purge Unused References

Overview

Purge Unused References is a tool to clean out unnecessary Data Reference and XReference objects in the drawing.

Using Purge Unused References

WisDOT [***] tab > Manage panel > DWG > Purge Unused References

The tool can also be loaded from the command line: DOTPURGEUNUSEDREFERENCES.

  1. Click Purge Unused References to launch the tool. A tree view of the references is presented.
  2. Any Data References that are not in use by other objects are available to be selected. All XReferences are also shown.
    1. Select the Data Reference and XReferences to remove from the drawing.

      Warning: Use care when selecting references to remove. While some references may not be used by other objects in the drawing, they may be used for display purposes (such as for plan sheets).

  3. Purge
  4. The selected references are removed from the drawing and the reference tree is updated. Purging references often results in additional references that can be removed. Repeat the purge process as desired.
