Curves - Free Curve

Overview

Creates a curve (arc) that is tangent to two selected Arcs, Circles, Lines, Polylines, or Alignments . A preview of all possible curves is displayed for the user to select from.

Usage

WisDOT Design tab> Draw panel > Curves dropdown > Free Curve

The tool can also be accessed from the command line: DOTDRAWFREECURVE.

  1. Select first line, arc, circle, polyline, or alignment: Select a line, arc, circle, polyline subentity, or alignment subentity to draw a curve tangent from.
  2. Select second line, arc, circle, polyline, or alignment: Select a line, arc, circle, polyline subentity, or alignment subentity to draw a line tangent to.
  3. Enter radius greater than ###.##: Enter the desired radius the for the curve. The minimum radius to achieve a solution is displayed in the command prompt.
  4. Select desired arc [Radius]: All possible curves will be displayed. Select the curve that is desired, or:
    1. Radius: The radius options provides a way to enter a different radius.
