WisDOT Civil 3D survey settings

Overview

The WisDOT Civil 3D standards require custom Civil 3D survey settings. These settings reside in Begin-dwg template files, reference template files, survey database configuration files, and survey database query files that are included in the WisDOT Civil 3D resource files.

Survey settings files

The WisDOT custom Civil 3D survey settings can be found in begin drawing template files, reference template files, survey database configuration files, and survey database query files.

The Begin-dwg templates contain survey settings. These templates are located at: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D20xx\Templates\Begin-dwg

  • User-Defined Property Classifications can be found in design-start.dwt.

  • User-Defined Property Classifications and the Description Key Set WisDOT Topography can be found in survey-start.dwg.

The reference templates contain Civil 3D styles & label styles and survey settings. WisDOT reference templates can be found in: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D20xx\Templates\Template-ref

  • group-survey.dwt is a reference template containing a collection of other reference templates that have survey content in them.

    • ref-align-prof.dwt is a reference template containing alignment styles, profile styles, profile view styles, and associated label styles & table styles.
    • ref-point.dwt & ref-point.dwg are a reference template and a reference drawing containing User-Defined Property Classifications, point styles, point file formats, and associated label styles & table styles.
    • ref-surface.dwt is a reference template containing surface styles and associated label styles & table styles.

    • ref-survey.dwt is a reference template containing survey figure styles and associated label styles & table styles.

Survey database configuration files are stored in the Civil 3D default install location. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 20xx\enu\Survey

  • WisDOT.f2f_xdef and WisDOT Proposed.f2f_xdef are Linework Code Set definition files.
  • WisDOT Topography.fdb_xdef is the WisDOT standard Figure Prefix Database WisDOT Topography.
  • WisDOT Survey Extended Properties.sdx_def contains Survey Extended Properties definitions.

  • WisDOT 20xx Survey User Settings.usr_set is a file that can be used to import the WisDOT preferred Civil 3D Survey User Settings.

Survey database queries can be used to categorize and isolate points & survey figures. Predefined WisDOT survey query files (*.qml) can be imported from C:\WisDOT\Stnd\SD20xxTemplate.

How to Create survey databases and queries.

The WisDOT Topography description key set can be imported into a drawing by using the Import Description Keys tool.
