WisDOT reference templates

Overview

The WisDOT Civil 3D standards require custom Civil 3D reference templates. The reference templates store styles and settings that are used by the file templates and sheet templates. WisDOT Civil 3D reference templates are included in the WisDOT Civil 3D resource files.

Reference template files

The WisDOT custom reference templates are located in: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D20xx\Templates\Template-ref. There are two types of templates: individual reference templates and group reference templates. Some individual reference templates also reference AutoCAD component files located in: C:\WisDOT\Stnd\C3D20xx\Components

Individual reference templates

Individual reference templates contain styles and settings for individual Civil 3D Styles and settings categories.

Group reference templates

Multiple individual reference templates are combined into one template to create a group reference template. Group reference templates are constructed for specific workflows or purposes. Group reference templates are then used to create streamlined file templates and sheet templates.

The default template (DWT) filepath for the current AutoCAD profile can be found at:

  • OPTIONS > Options dialog box > Files tab > Template Settings category > Drawing Template File Location category
