The definition tab will provide an area where the user can control what rules the surface has to follow to be built, any limitations, as well as a list of all edits.

Tab location

  1. Select on surface
  2. Context Ribbon > Modify panel > Surface Properties
    1. Surface Properties dialog box
      1. Definition tab
        1. Definition options: build options, rules and limitations
        2. Operation type: list of edits

Changing long triangles

Sometimes found along outside edges of the surface

  1. Surface Properties dialog box
    1. Definition tab
      1. Expand Build
        1. Use maximum triangle length: Yes
        2. Maximum triangle length: 85
    2. OK

  2. Surface Properties - Rebuild Surface dialog box > Rebuild the surface

    Info: Void areas, areas where the triangles exceeded 85 feet. This might be an area where the user could use a boundary to clear out the triangles.

Tell the surface to use or ignore crossing breaklines

  1. Surface Properties dialog box
    1. Definition tab
      1. Operation Type: check box Add breakline, Breakline set1
    2. Apply
  2. Surface Properties - Rebuild Surface dialog box > Rebuild the surface
  3. Surface Properties dialog box
    1. Definition tab
      1. Operation Type: check box Add breakline, Breakline set2
    2. Apply
  4. Surface Properties - Rebuild Surface dialog box > Rebuild the surface
  5. Panorama > Events tab > Error Info: Error says breakline is not being used because it is crossing over.
    1. select Green Check Mark to close
  6. To correct the crossing breakline error, Context Ribbon > Modify panel > Surface Properties

        1. Operation Type: uncheck box Add breakline, Breakline set2
        2. Definition Option > Allow Crossing breaklines: Yes
        3. Definition Option > Elevation to use: Use last breakline elevation at intersection
        4. Operation Type: check box Add breakline, Breakline set2
      2. Apply
  7. Surface Properties - Rebuild Surface dialog box > Rebuild the surface
  8. Panorama > Events tab > Information

Changing the order of operation definition

  1. Surface Properties dialog box
    1. Definition tab
      1. Operation Type > select Add breakline, Breakline set2

      2. Click Up Arrow button

        Info: Orange markers will appear whenever you make a change to the order, telling you to take notice.

    2. Apply
  2. Surface Properties - Rebuild Surface dialog box > Rebuild the surface
  3. OK

  4. Parorama box > select Green Check Mark to close
