Create surface from survey & add to Exist

Create file from survey data

- Menu browser > New
- Surface template dialog box
- Look in: Begin-dwg folder
- Select template survey-start.dwt
- Open
- Menu browser > Save As
- Save Drawing As dialog box
- Browse to Local drive:\PDS\C3D\11701902\BaseData
- Select Survey folder
- Rename file, File name: type Surf-Ex-Survey
- Click Save
Build surface
- Home tab > Create Ground Data panel > Surfaces dropdown > Create Surface
- Create Surface dialog box
- Change Name to Exist-Survey
- OK
- Quick Access bar > Save
Add survey data
- Toolspace > Survey tab > expand Survey Databases > right-click SD-11701902 > Open for edit
- Expand Survey queries

Select and Select+Drag the following survey queries into file:
- Centerlines
- SurfaceFigures
- SurfacePoints1
- SurfacePoints2

SurfacePoints3
Info: Must drag each query individually, not as a selected group.
- Quick Access bar > Save
Add clip boundary

Create data clip boundary
- Scroll/Zoom to project area

Commandline: Type PL
Tip: Polyline command can also be found Home tab > Draw panel > Polyline
- Select a start point near the surface. Continue adding polyline vertices around the surface. At last point, type C to close the polyline shape.
Add data clip boundary to surface definition
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Surfaces > expand Exist-Survey > expand Definition > right-click Boundaries > Add...
- Add Boundaries dialog box
- Type dropdown, select Data Clip
- OK
- Select boundary on surface
Remove survey points and figures from file
- Toolspace > Survey tab > right-click Survey Points > Points fly-out > Remove from drawing...
- Are you sure you wish to remove these points from the drawing? Yes
- Toolspace > Survey tab > right-click Figures > Remove from drawing...
- Are you sure you wish to remove these objects from the drawing? Yes
- Quick Access bar > Save
Add survey data and create data shortcut

Add survey data as a reference
- Survey tab > Modify panel > Survey Query
- Survey Queries Ribbon > Manage panel > dropdown > select SurfacePoints1
- Survey Queries Ribbon > Query Results panel > select Add to Surface
- Add Survey Query Results to Surface dialog box
- Add query results to this surface dropdown: select Exist-Survey
- Query Results: select Reference the survey database for dynamic query results
- Use these survey queries: Check mark the following: Centerlines, SurfaceFigures, SurfacePoints1, SurfacePoint2, & SurfacePoints3.
- OK
- Data is transferred in drawing file
- Quick Access bar > Save
Create data shortcuts
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > right-click Data Shortcuts > Create Data Shortcuts...
- Create Data Shortcuts box
- Select Exist-Survey
- OK
Remove surface triangle lines outside of boundary
There are a few triangles jumping across the boundary.
- Select surface > right-click menu > select Surface Porperties...

Surface Properties dialog box
- Surface styles: select EX Triangles
- Apply
- OK
- Select surface
- Surface tab > Modify panel > Edit Surface > Delete Line
- Crossing-windows select all lines outside of boundary area
- Enter
- Select surface
- Surface ribbon > Modify panel > select Surface Porperties...
- Surface Properties dialog box
- Surface styles: select EX Border
- OK
- Esc
- Quick Access bar > Save
- Survey Queries ribbon > Close
Paste survey surface into Exist surface

Open Exist surface file
- Quick Access bar > Open
- Select File dialog box
- Look in: PDS\C3D\11701902\BaseData
- Select Surf-Ex.dwg
- Open
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Data Shortcuts > expand Surfaces > expand Existing > right-click Exist-Survey > select Create Reference
- Create Surface Reference dialog box
- Style: set to EX Border
- OK
Locate surface
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Surfaces > expand Existing > right-click Exist-Survey > select Zoom to
Paste survey surface into Exist surface
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Surfaces > expand Exist > expand Definition > right-click Edits > select Paste Surface...
- Select Surface to Paste dialog box
- Select Exist-Survey
- OK
