  1. Site
    1. Allows several objects to interact
      1. Grading/feature lines, parcels, sometimes alignments
    2. Objects in other sites will NOT interact
    3. Grading groups need a site so they can create interaction between grading objects
      1. But they can be "siteless" to prevent interactions with anything
  2. Feature Line
    1. Used for the grading footprint
    2. Basically a 3D Polyline only smarter
    3. Many editing options
      1. Geometry and elevation
    4. Besides a grading footprint, can also be
      1. added to surface as a breakline separate from grading tools
      2. used as XSECT view utility markers or property lines
      3. anywhere a polyline might be used.
  3. Grading Criteria
    1. Rules for grading from footprint (feature line)
    2. User defines two sides of right triangle
    3. There are four provided in Basic Set
      1. Slope/grade to distance
      2. Slope/grade to elevation
      3. Slope/grade to relative elevation
      4. Slope/grade to Surface
    4. Can build your own
      1. this will only be created in the file that you are working in, so don't expect it in the next project file
    5. Unlocked criteria prompts for user entry, makes criteria more versatile for different uses/projects
    6. Locked criteria takes default, speeds up grading process
  4. Grading Objects
    1. Individual gradings
      1. From footprint with criteria
      2. Can be whole feature line or just portions
      3. Represented with diamond inside grading
      4. Technically transitions and infills are also grading objects
  5. Grading Group
    1. Allow separate grading objects to interact
    2. Grading objects and feature lines in different groups will not interact
    3. Allows balancing of site volumes
    4. Do not need to be contiguous
