Open drawing file
- Quick Access > Open
- Open File dialog box
- Look in: browse to folder dataset is saved.
- Select AliProf-CtyE-prfl-lyout-tl-begin.dwg
- Open
Open Profile Layout Tools toolbar
- Left-click profile view
- Contextual ribbon > Modify Profile panel > select Geometry Editor

Tangent-Tangent tool options
- Draw Tangents - Drawing tangents without curves, but curves can be added.
- Draw Tangents With Curves
- Curve Settings - Default setting, every time a curve is created it has a set radius. Curves can be adjusted.
- Convert Curves - Convert free curves through point.
- Left-click Tangent-Tangent tool dropdown
- Left-click Curves Settings
- Vertical Curve Settings dialog box
- Select curve type: Parabolic
- Crest curves, Length: 200'
- Sag curves, Length: 200'
- OK

- Left-click Tangent-Tangent tool dropdown
- Left-click Draw Tangents With Curves
- Specify start point:Shift + right-click > OSnap menu > select Endpoint Left-click start point of existing alignment
- Specify end point: Left-click to top of curve, of existing alignment, following to the right.
- Specify end point: Left-click to bottom of curve, of existing alignment, following to the right.
- Right-click to end command.
Notice tangent has a curve. Left-click on curve to see grip points.

Continue from previous exercise.
- Profile Layout Tools toolbar > Left-click Tangent-Tangent tool dropdown > Left-click Draw Tangents
- Specify start point:Shift + right-click > OSnap menu > select Endpoint Left-click last point of previous tangent (from previous exercise) as the start point.
- Specify end point: Left-click a point above existing alignment, following to the right.
- Specify end point: Left-click a point below existing alignment, following to the right.
- Right-click to end command.
Notice there are no curves, only tangent lines.
Insert PVI point
- Profile Layout Tools toolbar > Left-click Insert PVI icon
- Specify point for new PVI: Left-click a point in the middle of the first tangent.
Tip: You don't have to check on the line. The command will add a bend to the nearest tangent.
- Specify point for new PVI: Left-click a point in the middle of the first tangent.
- Right-click to end command.
Delete PVI point
- Profile Layout Tools toolbar > Left-click Delete PVI icon
- Pick point near PVI to delete: Hover over PVI and left-click.
- Right-click to end command.

- X to close Profile Layout Tools toolbar
- Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Profile dropdown > select Profile Creation Tools
- Select profile view to create profile: Left-click on profile view
- Create Profile dialog box
- Name: type Cty-E-Prop
- OK
- Profile Layout Tools toolbar > Left-click Insert PVI - Tubular icon
- Insert PVI dialog box
- Vertical curve type: Parabolic
- Station: type 1000Enter, Elevation: 890Enter, Curve Len: 0Enter

- Profile Layout Tools toolbar > Left-click Copy Profile icon
Info: This process will copy the profile on top of itself, then the copy can be moved or accessed.

Delete profile copy
- Left-click on copy profile
- Verify it is the copy, the toolbar should say (Copy) in the name.
- Delete
