Creating ultimate r/w alignments

Turn on OSnaps

  1. Status bar > Object Snap settings menu > select Endpoint
  2. Make sure the OSNAPS are turned on.

Create ultimate r/w alignment southwest

  1. Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment dropdown > Alignment Creation Tools
  2. Create Alignment - Layout dialog box
    1. Name: Ultimate ROW Southwest
    2. Type: Miscellaneous
    3. Site: None
    4. Alignment style: RW Ultimate
    5. Alignment layer: Browse
      1. Object Layer dialog box
        1. Based layer name: Browse > select P_RW_UltimateOK
      2. OK
    6. Alignment label set: _No Labels
    7. OK
  3. Alignment Layout Tools toolbar
    1. Alignment command dropdown > select Tangent-Tangent (No Curves)
    2. Using the Endpoint OSnaps and selecting each point as described: Begin alignment at western most endpoint (SW) of the existing eastbound ROW boundary line. Next point will be at the first convergence of the western most endpoint of the proposed ROW line, continuing to each endpoint along the geometry until it converges with the proposed west side of the southbound ROW line. Last point will be at the southern most endpoint of this ROW line.
    3. Enter to end command
  4. Verify alignment appears in Miscellaneous Alignments
    1. Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Alignments > expand Miscellaneous Alignments > Ultimate ROW Southwest
  5. X to close Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

Create ultimate alignment r/w southeast

  1. Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment dropdown > Alignment Creation Tools

  2. Create Alignment - Layout dialog box

    All settings should be retained from previous setup except:

    1. Name: Ultimate ROW Southeast
    2. Alignment layer: Browse
      1. Object Layer dialog box
        1. Based layer name: Browse > select P_RW_UltimateOK
      2. OK
    3. OK
  3. Alignment Layout Tools toolbar
    1. Select Alignment command dropdown > Tangent-Tangent (No Curves)
    2. Using the Endpoint OSnaps and selecting each point of Proposed SE alignment as described: Begin alignment at southern most endpoint (SE) of the existing northbound ROW boundary line. Next point will be at the first convergence of the proposed ROW line, continuing to each endpoint along the geometry until it converges with the south side of the proposed eastbound ROW line. Last point will be at the eastern most endpoint of this ROW line.

      Tip: Creating the ROW alignments in consistent direction can be beneficial if you need to use them as targets later in the design.

    3. Enter to end command
  4. Verify alignment appears in Miscellaneous Alignments

    1. Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Alignments > expand Miscellaneous Alignments > Ultimate ROW Southeast
  5. X to close Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

Create ultimate r/w alignment northeast

  1. Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment dropdown > Alignment Creation Tools
  2. Create Alignment - Layout dialog box

    All settings should be retained from previous setup except:

    1. Name: Ultimate ROW Northeast
    2. Alignment layer: Browse
      1. Object Layer dialog box
        1. Based layer name: Browse > select P_RW_UltimateOK
      2. OK
    3. OK
  3. Alignment Layout Tools toolbar
    1. Select Alignment command dropdown > Tangent-Tangent (No Curves)
    2. Using the Endpoint OSnaps and selecting each point of Proposed NE alignment as described: Begin alignment at eastern most endpoint (NE) of the existing westbound ROW boundary line. Next point will be at the first convergence of the proposed ROW boundary line, continuing to each endpoint along the geometry until it converges with the east side of the northbound ROW line. Last point will be at the northern most endpoint of this ROW line.
    3. Enter to end command
  4. Verify alignment appears in Miscellaneous Alignments
    1. Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Alignments > expand Miscellaneous Alignments > Ultimate ROW Northeast
  5. X to close Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

Create ultimate r/w alignment northwest

  1. Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment dropdown > Alignment Creation Tools

  2. Create Alignment - Layout dialog box

    All settings should be retained from previous setup except:

    1. Name: Ultimate ROW Northwest
    2. Alignment layer: Browse
      1. Object layer dialog box
        1. Base layer name: Browse > select P_RW_UltimateOK
      2. OK
    3. OK
  3. Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

    1. Select Alignment command dropdown > Tangent-Tangent (No Curves)
    2. Using the Endpoint OSnaps and selecting each point of Proposed NW alignment as described: Begin alignment at northern most endpoint (NW) of the existing southbound ROW boundary line. Next point will be at the first convergence of the proposed ROW boundary line, continuing to each endpoint along the geometry until it converges with the north side of the westbound ROW line. Last point will be at the western most endpoint of this ROW line.
    3. Enter to end command
  4. Verify alignment appears in Miscellaneous Alignments

    1. Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Alignments > expand Miscellaneous Alignments > Ultimate ROW Northeast
  5. X to close Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

Create TLE 1 alignment

  1. Ribbon > Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment dropdown > Alignment Creation Tools

  2. Create Alignment - Layout dialog box

    All settings should be retained from previous setup except:

    1. Name: TLE 1
    2. Type: Miscellaneous
    3. Site: None
    4. Alignment style: RW Temp Limited Easement
    5. Alignment layer: Browse
      1. Object layer dialog box
        1. Base layer name: Browse > select P_RW_FeePatterns_TLEOK
      2. OK
    6. Alignment label set: _No Labels
    7. OK
  3. Alignment Layout Tools toolbar

    1. Select Alignment command dropdown > Tangent-Tangent (No Curves)
    2. Select Transparent command > Alignment Station Offset
    3. Select STH 64 alignment
      1. Selection dialog box > select Alignment
    4. Specify station along baseline: 26250
    5. Specify station offset: 75
    6. Specify station along baseline: 26250
    7. Specify station offset: 125
    8. Specify station along baseline: 26300
    9. Specify station offset: 125
    10. Specify station along baseline: 26300
    11. Specify station offset: 75
    12. Esc to exit transparent command
    13. Use OSnap and select beginning point (NW corner) to close

To clean up the ultimate r/w file

  1. Remove Xrefs
    1. Ribbon > Insert tab > Reference panel diagonal arrow
      1. Xref manager > File References
        1. right-click 81100024-ERW > Detach
        2. right-click 81100024-ERW-SecLines > Detach
  2. Remove data shortcuts
    1. Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand Surfaces
      1. right-click RoadwayModel-Datum > Delete...
      2. Are you sure you want to delete 'RoadwayModel-Datum'? Yes

Save file

  1. Application menu > Save As...
    1. Save Drawing As dialog box
    2. Save in: Local drive:\WisDOT\Design\c3d\12345678\RW\DWG
    3. File name: 81100024-Ult-RW.dwg
