Create the sheet file and layout tabs

Complete the Earthwork quantities volume calc (https://c3dkb.dot.wi.gov/Content/c3d/qnty/qnty-erthwrk.htm)

Create Earthwork file speed sheet layout.

WisDOT Sheets > Support > Palettes ON/OFF
-
WisDOT Sheets > Sheet Creation > Earthwork
-
Startup Main tab > Earthwork Data Speed Sheet
-
Save file in 12345678\SheetsPlan\090101-ew.dwg
-
Click Save.
-
Open the Excel spreadsheet
-
Spreadsheet was created using workflow here: http://www.c3dkb.dot.wi.gov/Content/c3d/qnty/qnty-erthwrk.htm

Open the Excel spreadsheet from 12345678\Design\Quantities\EWKDetailWorkbooks\EWK-25.xlsx.

In Excel, File > Options > Formula Tabs > Error Checking Rules. Uncheck both Formulas which omit cells in a region, and Unlocked cells containing formulas. Click OK.
Info: This step is important since it turns green arrow error markers in cells off.The green arrow markers will appear in most cells of the Civil3D linked table causing confusion and clutter.

Switch to the View tab of the ribbon > Show panel > Uncheck the Gridlines option.
Copy and paste Notes into sheet frames

Open the EWK-25.xlsx file in Excel.

Scroll to the right to see the Notes area (X11 through Z22).

Widen the X, Y, and Z columns so all the text in these cells is readable.

Select the X11 through Z22 cells, right-click and choose Copy.

In Civil 3D, open 090101-ew.dwg.
-
Home ribbon > Clipboard panel > Paste pull-down > Paste Special

In the Paste Special dialog select the Paste Link button
-
Select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
-
Click OK.
-

Place the frame of the Notes table at the bottom of the first frame.
-
Repeat the Paste Special steps to place the Notes table at the bottom of the next several frames.
Copy table data and paste into first sheet

In the Excel spreadsheet.
-
Select the cells A2 through W93.
-
Right-click and choose Copy.
-
In Civil 3D, open 090101-ew.dwg.
-
Home ribbon > Clipboard panel > Paste pull-down > Paste Special
-
In the Paste Special dialog select the Paste Link button
-
Select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
-
Click OK.
-

Move the data frame into the frame of Layout1. Click to place it inside the frame.
Find out how much of the table will fit on each sheet
-
Inspect where the data grid falls outside the Layout 1 frame or over the Notes table.

If the frame is too wide
-
Return to the Excel spreadsheet and adjust the columns to fit the table inside the frame.

Save the file.

Return to the 090101-ew.dwg file and notice the change to the inserted table. You may need to move the table to fit it more appropriately on the sheet.

If the frame is too long
-
Find the last full row that will fit on the sheet without overlapping the Notes table. Remember the station of the row that will be the last for the page.

Copy the table cells that will fit.

Return to the Excel spreadsheet.

Scroll down to the table station that will fit on the page (row 50).

Select the ROW BELOW that station’s row(51), right-click and choose Insert. Repeat this to insert a second row.

Scroll to the top and select cells A2 through W6. Right-click and choose Copy.
-
Select the A51 cell, right-click and Insert Copied Cells.

This may create an extra unneeded row. Select that extra row (56) right-click and choose Delete. Select Shift cells up.

Place the adjusted tables on the sheets

Copy and paste the adjusted table data into the frames.

Select the cells A2 through W46, right-click and choose Copy.

Return to the 090101-ew.dwg.
-
Delete the original table that was placed in the Layout1 frame.

Home ribbon > Clipboard panel > Paste pull-down > Paste Special

In the Paste Special dialog select the Paste Link button

Select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
-
Click OK.
-

Place the table frame at the top of the Layout1 frame.
-
Return to the Excel spreadsheet.
-
Select the rows A48 through W99, right-click and choose Copy.
-
Return to the 090101-ew.dwg.
-
Home ribbon > Clipboard panel > Paste drop-down > Paste Special
-
In the Paste Special dialog select the Paste Link button.

Select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
-
Click OK.
-

Place the table frame in the Layout2 frame.
-
Place the Notes table on the rest of the sheets
-
Return to the Excel spreadsheet.

Select the rows X56 through Z64, right-click and choose Copy.

Return to the 090101-ew.dwg.
-
Paste the Notes table below the second frame’s table.

Home ribbon > Clipboard panel > Paste drop-down > Paste Special

In the Paste Special dialog select the Paste Link button

select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet. Click OK.

If the tables are longer than the layout frame, return to the Excel spreadsheet to copy a smaller portion of the table.
