Inquiry tool overview
Inquiry tool palette
Inquiry tools are for reporting data from Civil 3D objects.
Inquiry types include: point, surface, alignment, profile view, profile, section view, section, and corridor section.
Example of field values include a location, x-coordinate and y-coordinate, easting or northing independently of each other, etc.
Point inquiry
- Analyze tab > Inquiry panel > select Inquiry Tool > opens Inquiry Tool palette
- Select an inquiry type: open dropdown > expand Point > select Point Inverse
- Enter Values
- Point 1 Number: 780Enter, known data populates table
Point 2 Number: 779Enter, known data populates table
Info: Values you can fill in are white, blue fields will report back.
- Graphically a line will appear on your drawing, indicating the points and data from the table.
Surface inquiry
- Inquiry Tool palette
- Select an inquiry type: open dropdown > expand Surface > select Surface Elevation and Grade at Point
- Enter Values
- Surface Name: EXIST Enter
- Point Coordinate: Click on Select from Screen icon, select a point on drawing, known data populates table
Alignment inquiry
- Inquiry Tool palette
- Select an inquiry type: open dropdown > expand Alignment > select Alignment Two Station and Offsets at Point
- Enter Values
- Point Coordinate: Click on Select from Screen icon, select a point on drawing, known data populates table
Profile inquiry
- Inquiry Tool palette
- Select an inquiry type: open dropdown > expand Profile > select Profile Station and Elevation at Point
- Select profile dialog box
- Select STH258estFitOK
- Select Station, marker will appear at geographic location
