DWG - DWG Clean

Overview

DWG Clean is a tool to clean out unnecessary objects in the DWG database and fix any errors that may be in the drawing file.

Requirement: DWG Clean should be used regularly to maintain clean and error free drawing files.

Warning: Failure to maintain clean and error free drawing files will result in poor Civil 3D application performance, slow opening files, and program crashing.

DWG Clean performs the following functions in sequence:

  • -PURGE Zero-length geometry
  • -PURGE Empty text objects
  • -PURGE Orphaned data
  • -PURGE Regapps
  • AUDIT and fix found errors

Using DWG Clean

WisDOT [***] tab > Manage panel > DWG Clean

  1. Click DWG Clean to launch the tool.
  2. Enter to continue.
  3. Wait for the tool to finish.
  4. The process is complete when the command line reads: "Removed; Zero-length geometry, empty text objects, orphaned data, and unreferenced registered applications. Audited drawing to fix errors."

The DWG Clean tool can also be loaded from the command line: DWGCLEAN.

Info: Some drawings may require more than one pass with this tool.
